Checking the pulse of employees is a vital method to gaining insights into the needs and feelings of employees. Most organizations engage in an annual or biannual engagement survey more broadly. Some organizations also take short ‘pulse’ surveys with a few questions more regularly. Through a DEI lens, the engagement survey can measure differences in perception across demographic groups and level in the organization. It can identify what business units, divisions may require a more focused effort to drive inclusion in leadership and where employees feel they can use more support.
