  • Social media content
  • TED talks relevant to this year’s theme
  • “How to” documents to host an IWD celebration

WLI #itsmybalance Campaign

What is it?

WLI is excited to announce the launch of #itsmybalance, an initiative giving J&J employees a voice to share personal stories focused on work life balance.

Achieving a healthy work/life integration is an attainable goal but you have to be deliberate about making a solid game plan and knowing your boundaries.  When we are balanced and happy, we will be more productive at work and home, need less sick days, and are more likely to have a positive impact to those surrounding us.

When?

Every day between February 11 and International Women’s Day (March 8), a new thought provoking video will be posted on the WLI – Women’s Leadership and Inclusion Yammer site.  (WLI Yammer Link)
These raw videos will feature 2-minute stories from our colleagues around the world sharing personal stories of work life balance failures and successes and review the lessons learned.  This will lead us for example to exchange on how to set boundaries, the impact of mentally bringing work home, importance of listening to our body signals, or how to be more aware of J&J policies!

Where does it live?

WLI Yammer page

How do I get involved?

We ask that you all engage and share your thoughts, comments, and perspective on WLI yammer.  Maybe you will even share your story of Work/life balance that will resonate with others.  These open discussions are part of what makes J&J such a unique place. Tune in every day for one month and be a part of this exciting journey into defining our true balance.

JLL

Globally we are celebrating IWD using the IWD theme of Balance for Better. There will be leadership commitments from leaders around the globe that will be shared on social channels, JLLs and their personal channels. We are doing a video of personal stories that will be shared via social as well.

From a local perspective there are events being planned in all markets. The DBP webinar is being advised as well as our Women’s Network is hosting a virtual panel discussion around demystifying balance, which will tie into their celebrations for Women’s History Month.

Leidos

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Leidos Women’s Network Employee Resource Group (ERG) has developed inclusive, global programming across the enterprise. The initiatives will align with the Women’s History Month international theme “#BalanceForBetter”. Our events will focus on the trials and triumphs of women in leadership and how we can all be allies for their success.

March 7 In celebration of International Women’s day, the Corporate Director of Leadership and Organization Effectiveness and a Senior Scientist (and 2017 Black Engineer of the Year Modern-Day Technology Award winner) will be featured speakers at an event called “The Leader in You”. The event will be both in-person at Leidos HQ in Virginia as well as virtual.

The Women’s Network ERG will sponsor a series called Leidos Leading Women that will highlight several women from diverse backgrounds and countries on the home page of our intranet site and externally to social media. These women are influential, inspiring and they are making history with their contributions to Leidos and the world at-large. The full write-ups will be on the Leidos Insights external website and will celebrate their successes and ability to #balanceforbetter.

Across the company, we will celebrate the theme of this year’s International Women’s day, #balanceforbetter, by encouraging all Leidos employees to post pictures to the intranet site of how they #balanceforbetter in their daily lives.

All Women’s Network ERG chapters (i.e. a total of 11), including the UK, will host various events to celebrate Women’s history month. Examples include lunch and learn events about famous and historical women, ERG-sponsored wellness classes, volunteering at local food banks, and hosting panel discussions on how to #balanceforbetter.

Lockheed Martin

Lockheed Martin will observe International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 7 to celebrate women’s achievements, while calling for a more gender-balanced world, in concert with this year’s IWD official theme: #BalanceforBetter: Better the Balance, Better the World.

Collective action and shared responsibility for driving gender parity is what makes International Women’s Day successful. That is why the Global Diversity and Inclusion team at Lockheed Martin is partnering with our Women’s Impact Network (WIN) to host two hour-long webcasts for employees all around the world to talk about how we can work together to ‘Better the Balance’ at Lockheed Martin and to identify actions that each of us can take to create an environment where all employees thrive.

By design, Lockheed Martin’s celebration of International Women’s Day focuses on internal employees only and addresses topics that women in our workplace have identified as enablers of their career success, advancement and overall workplace satisfaction. Last year’s event saw 900 in attendance and resulted in the organization producing a first of its kind IWD White Paper which served the purpose of informing future diversity and inclusion strategies and tactics.

This year, each webcast will feature a diverse panel of women in leadership at Lockheed Martin, representative of our seven ERG communities, as well as a male Ally. We will also engage an external speaker to provide expertise on women’s advancement around the globe. The speaker will challenge women to actively find ways to develop through enterprise wide, company sponsored efforts, yet will encourage them to develop strong and trusting relationships with each other which can lead to career success. Lockheed Martin is proud to engage our organization in #Betterforbalance!
