Beginning as “Armistice Day” as a way to honor the end of World War I in the United States, and those who served throughout the war, November 11th officially became Veterans Day in 1954 and expanded to honor all veterans. In 1996, November was declared Military Family Appreciation Month and has since been declared National Veterans and Military Families Month yearly to honor and show appreciation for veterans and military families.
Below and on the next few pages are ways to honor Veterans Day and Veterans and Military Families Month (VMFM) by leveraging resources, linking initiatives to business impact, leading with intentional inclusion, and building one’s knowledge base on VMFM history and the experiences of veterans and military families.
