Celebrate Autism Acceptance Month
Each April, organizations around the world recognize Autism Acceptance Month, alongside World Autism Awareness Day (April 2)—first observed in 2008 after the United Nations formally designated the date to promote understanding of autism. In recent years, the focus has shifted from awareness to acceptance. Acceptance requires us to examine how our environments, expectations, and behaviors either include or exclude autistic people. It encourages us to move beyond passive recognition and toward active inclusion—where differences are not just acknowledged but also respected and supported.
