Senior Director, Diversity Best Practices
Marcelo Vásquez López is Senior Director, Global Member Advisory Services at Seramount. He is a strategic HR and diversity, equity, and inclusion executive with 20 years of experience, and has demonstrated success in developing new programs and practices that effectively increase diversity within multinational corporations such as Walmart, Home Depot and Sodexo.
Prior to joining Seramount in 2020, Marcelo served as a diversity and inclusion director for Sodexo, where he led the DE&I strategy for six countries in Latin America—Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Mexico and Costa Rica—and the education segment at Sodexo North America (500-plus universities), with more than 35,000 and 60,000 employees in each region.
He has also served as a consultant for catalyst.org, supporting the implementation of DE&I awareness programs in Latin America in collaboration with local NGOs. Marcelo excels at creating strategies to raise awareness and engage others to build an inclusive workforce and culture within countries/regions. He has collaborated with C-suite, global chief diversity officers, ERGs, human resources, operations, and NGOs to identify and develop marketplace/client and employee-facing diversity consulting services to drive enrichment on diversity representation. Marcelo is an oft-sought-out speaker, panelist, and DE&I subject-matter expert at events at major corporate and professional conferences in Latin America.
Marcelo is a certified organizational coach specializing in human resources, and is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese. Originally from Santiago, Chile, he is a world traveler and enjoys exploring different cultures and places. Marcelo now lives in Chicago with his husband.
