Wells Fargo
With Native American/Indigenous people as some of the most underrepresented communities in organizations, Wells Fargo’s Native Employee Resource Network Native Peoples Connection is an enterprise-wide team consisting of over 50 volunteer leaders from 12 chapters across all areas of Wells Fargo. They aimed to increase employee hires, develop ERN members through mentorship and engage diverse talent through community/segment consultation. Through collaboration with extensive internal lines of business (Technology/Legal/Commercial Banking), they delivered wins in all areas, including:
– Recruiting prospects at the annual AISES conference, engaging over 2500 attendees, hiring candidates with the goal of increasing Indigenous hiring. These actions garnered Wells Fargo recognition as a top company for Indigenous STEM professionals increasing diverse talent/representation.
– Providing insight/consultation in all aspects of the segment from marketing, philanthropy, banking, and client engagement. Branches on the Navajo Nation have digital signage displayed with the Navajo language and imagery through consultation/support from NPC.
– Engaging with the Wells Fargo Invest Native providing consultation, feedback, and support for the philanthropic initiative. NPC provided over 130 volunteers donating over 700hrs in 2023 to Native Forward Scholars Fund assisting their annual scholarship review process and in 2024 is on track to surpass 2023.
– Seeing 6% growth in the last year in members that identify within the segment.
– Promoting the mentorship program and hosting development meetings, NPC added 16 leaders, bringing the leadership team to 85% fulfillment. Mentorship has increased the number of members threefold bringing the mentorship cohort to 77 members.

McKesson
McKesson’s UNITY ERG, in partnership with the Global Impact Organization and McKesson Medical-Surgical Government team, hosted a health education and diabetes testing event at the Navajo Nation Fair in Tuba City, Arizona in October of 2023. The event featured diabetes testing administered by Siemens and Kenvue, along with the distribution of health education resources.
This initiative was driven by the recognition that Native Americans face significant healthcare disparities, including high rates of diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, and other diseases, due to inadequate access, health literacy, and systemic constraints.
The measurable results from the event include:
– Over 1,000 community members visited the booth to receive health education.
– 500 sunscreen samples were distributed.
– Nearly 100 individuals participated in diabetes testing through the Siemens mobile lab.
– 82% of survey respondents reported increased confidence in their health knowledge following the event.
The goal of this activation was not only to address key health disparities in the Navajo Nation but also to promote early screening and prevention, thereby moving health interventions upstream. This initiative also aimed to build trust with the community, laying the groundwork for future health equity efforts.
