In recent years, the workplace experiences of Black employees have seen significant changes, influenced by social movements, corporate commitments, and shifting government policies. After the global reckoning with racial injustice triggered by George Floyd’s murder in 2020, businesses and institutions promised to tackle systemic inequities. However, by 2025, many of these commitments have been withdrawn due to political opposition, legal rulings, and broader economic challenges. This guide explores both the historical and contemporary experiences of Black employees, the impact of recent policy changes, and what corporations and leaders can do to support Black employees.
