Ruben Barrales manages external relationships with national constituents for the Diverse Segments, Representation and Inclusion (DSRI) organization at Wells Fargo.  In this role, he is responsible for advancing Wells Fargo’s diversity and inclusion goals, policy priorities, and reputation in Washington, DC and across the country.

Barrales joined Wells Fargo in 2019, after serving as president & CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, and of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network.  He also led a consortium of nonprofit groups and political action committees focused on training and electing Latino candidates to state and local government offices.

Barrales served as Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States and Director of The White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs for President George W. Bush.

Barrales was recognized as one of the “100 Most Influential Hispanics” in the United States by Hispanic Business Magazine, and was honored with the “Ohtli Award” from the Government of Mexico for his commitment to improving the well-being of Hispanics in the United States.

A native Californian, Barrales was the first Latino elected to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Public Policy Institute of California, a member of the Advisory Board for the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, and Vice-Chairman of the California Commission on Local Governance for the 21st Century.
