The now two-year long global pandemic has taken a disproportionate toll on women around the world both at work and at home. The equal participation of women in decision-making is crucial for COVID-19 response and recovery. However, according to the UN’s 2021 Sustainability Report, women represent only 25.6 percent of national parliaments, 36.3 percent of local government and 28.2 percent of managerial positions globally

Participants Will Hear

During our International Women’s Day event, we will take look into the state of women and girls around the world and the implications for organizations as they work toward a more gender-equitable future presented by Sue Allchurch, Chief of Outreach and Engagement at the United Nations Global Compact.

In addition, we will learn about next practices two of our Diversity Best Practices member organizations are leveraging to make positive impacts on women and girls both in their organizations and in the community.

Erika Casallas, Regional Account Director MS at Sodexo will present Sodexo’s SheWorks program in Bogota, Colombia that provides training to women in vulnerable situations in traditionally male-dominated careers.

Abigail Bucuvalas,  Senior Director, Educational Programs at Sesame Workshop will provide a look at the work that goes into developing programming around the world with gender equity at its core.

International Women’s Day was created as a call to action for the fight for global equal rights for women and girls. Join us for a program that will educate and inspire and, we hope, move us all to action.
